Environmental¶

Environmental operations are among the more demanding parts of running hardware.

Hosted¶

In Hosted deployments, RSL operates cooling as a service. If the space is too hot for the hardware, RSL is responsible for fixing it.

Tenants can see environmental readings but do not directly access the physical sensors. yard collects the readings and makes them available through services such as Prometheus.

Observability¶

In the Hosted model, RSL places temperature, humidity, and water sensors in every rack and exposes their readings through the deployment's Prometheus endpoint.

RSL also exposes environmental readings from the compute and network devices that make up the yard.

Onsite¶

For Onsite deployments, environmental operations depend on the project scope. At a minimum, monitoring will likely include readings from the compute and network devices that make up the yard.

Observability¶

In Onsite deployments, readings are available through the deployment's Prometheus endpoint and can also be integrated with customer systems.
